SBA Chief to Honor 4 Latinas at 3rd Annual Latin Business Expo

Share

Aida Alvarez, administrator of the Small Business Administration, will honor Latina entrepreneurs Nov. 4 at an opening breakfast for the Latin Business Assn.’s Latin Business Expo in downtown Los Angeles.

The third annual expo will also feature a trade show, business seminars and workshops catering to the region’s Latino entrepreneurs, who make up more than 16% of small-business owners in Los Angeles County. Those who preregister can also arrange one-on-one procurement meetings with corporate buyers.

Alvarez, the first Latina to head the federal agency, will open the expo at an event honoring four Latina entrepreneurs from Los Angeles and Orange counties. Latinas represent the fastest-growing sector of American business, growing at four times the rate of small businesses in general. Richard L. Huber, chairman of Aetna Inc., will give the luncheon address on how to access the burgeoning Latino consumer market, and an evening reception will focus on international trade opportunities.
