Radio Unica Corp. said it is buying four radio stations from Children’s Broadcasting Corp. for $29.3 million, a deal that would make it the leading Latino radio network in the U.S.

Miami-based Radio Unica plans to acquire WBAH and WJDM in New York, KAHZ in Dallas and KIDR in Phoenix. The stations would carry 24 hours of the network’s entertainment, news, sports and talk shows in Spanish.

With the transaction, which is expected to close in the first quarter of 1999, Radio Unica would reach 81% of all U.S. Latino listeners.
