Van Nuys 36, Grant 3--Jermaine Lucious helped Van Nuys (6-2, 4-1) overcome turnovers on its first three possessions at Valley College.

The Wolves’ defense held Grant (2-5-1, 1-3-1) to 29 yards rushing.

Lucious had four receptions for 117 yards, including gains of 83 and 16 yards from quarterback Bobby Hernandez.

Lucious returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring with 10:50 remaining in the second quarter.

Hernandez completed nine of 19 passes for 182 yards. Hernandez threw two interceptions, both in the first quarter. Alex Aguilar rushed 11 times for 79 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown.

Grant’s Jesus Perez booted a 32-yard field goal midway through the third period to make the score 21-3.

Grant’s Marthell Murray had seven receptions for 105 yards.

David Castillo had a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown with 17 seconds left in the first half.
