From Times Wire Reports

Atty. Gen. Janet Reno showed key lawmakers a series of documents recommending that she seek an independent counsel to investigate Democratic campaign fund-raising. Republicans who had threatened to hold Reno in contempt of Congress for withholding the documents called her action a good first step but complained that 50 pages had been blacked out. Nonetheless, the chairman of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.), said Reno’s move might be sufficient to put the contempt citation effort to rest.
