League of Voters Puts Election Forum Online

The League of Women Voters of Santa Monica has launched an online forum on local candidates and ballot measures that will continue until the Nov. 3 election.

Forum participants can discuss the four local ballot measures or candidates for City Council, Rent Control Board, school board and college board, said league board member Joanne Leavitt.

The election forum, which began Tuesday, is organized in a "bulletin board" format, in which users' comments and questions are posted on screen in sequence. The forum will be moderated by league members.

Participants must have an account on the city's Public Electronic Network. The free accounts are available to anyone who lives, works or attends school in Santa Monica, and may be obtained at (310) 458-8383 or by filling out a form on the city Web site.

The forum can be accessed via the city's World Wide Web site at http://pen.ci.santa-monica.ca.us or by modem at (310) 458-8989.

Access to the forum is also available via computer in public libraries and at community centers.
