Amaury Telemaco pitched seven strong innings as the Arizona Diamondbacks tied the record for the longest winning streak by an expansion team at seven with a 3-1 victory over the Houston Astros on Friday night.

The Los Angeles Angels won seven in a row in 1961, the first year baseball expanded.

Telemaco (6-8) gave up six hits, struck out six and didn’t walk a batter. No Arizona starter has given up more than three runs in the last eight games, and Diamondback starters have faced 110 batters without walking one.

Telemaco would have blanked the Astros had not right fielder Andy Fox stumbled and fell, allowing Ricky Guitierrez’s fly ball to sail over his glove for a leadoff triple in the fourth. Guitierrez scored on Derek Bell’s groundout.

Willie Banks pitched the eighth for Arizona, then Gregg Olson came on in the ninth for his 26th save, his 19th in a row. Jose Lima (14-7) took the loss for Houston.

Arizona’s Devon White went two for four and stole third in the eighth inning to become the first expansion player to have at least 20 homers and 20 steals in a season. He also made a nice running catch of Moises Alou’s drive to deep center with a runner on in the ninth.

The game was halted for about five minutes after 7 1/2 innings to remove a fan, Jeff Boswell, 30, who was injured when a piece of a broken bat struck him in the face in the sixth inning. The piece was from Arizona’s Kelly Stinnett bat. Boswell was treated for a facial laceration at a nearby hospital.
