Irvine Valley Wins Tournament Opener

Yigalel Kerzenbaum’s second-half goal was enough as Irvine Valley defeated American River, 1-0, in the first round of the Hartnell men’s soccer tournament Friday in Salinas.

Aaron Fry assisted Kerzenbaum on the goal. Miljan Soskic had four saves for the Lasers (2-0).

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Citrus 2, Cypress 1--Osbaldo Soto tied the score for Cypress (0-1) in the 55th minute but Citrus’ Patrick Urbach came back 15 minutes later with the winner.

Santa Barbara 5, Fullerton 1--Ryan Graham scored Fullerton’s goal.
