Accountability

As the parent of three young children, I am opposed to the current trend of holding teachers accountable for the poor performance of their students on standardized tests.

If such low scores were followed up with an intensive addition of extra teachers and tutors to bring up the skills of low-functioning students, that would be great.

I believe most of the low achievement in schools has to do with the low socioeconomic levels and language levels at home.

I would like to see the students and parents held accountable rather than have the state government focus on teachers as the problem.
