District Hears Updates on Two Schools’ Plans

Share

Fullerton school trustees are thinking ahead even as the new school year begins.

Fullerton School District board members received reports Tuesday on the future of two elementary campuses--Beechwood School, which will open next fall, and Maple School.

PJHM Architects expect to complete plans for the $1.1- million Beechwood project within two months. The architects sought the trustees’ opinions Tuesday on the schoolyard design, namely, whether to maintain a schoolyard that caters to playground use and physical education or community sports.

The trustees said they support community sports, but agreed the school should meet student needs first.

The district will seek community input at a public hearing at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Fullerton District Headquarters, 1401 W. Valencia Drive.

The board also discussed proposals to expand Maple School, which now includes students in kindergarten through second grade. The district is considering including up to sixth grade on the campus.
