Starr Report

Share

* It is noted that President Clinton’s lawyer, David Kendall, sent a letter to the special prosecutor requesting an advance copy of the report to the House of Representatives (Sept. 8). There was no legal basis for this, but Kendall, Mike McCurry and the spin doctors pronounced that this was the only “fair thing to do.” They wanted a chance to prepare a rebuttal.

Kenneth Starr’s report will be based on sworn testimony before a grand jury. Kendall only wants to crank up the White House spin machine, which has never had much regard for the truth. Witness the past seven months since the Lewinsky affair first surfaced. The president got on national TV, wagged his finger in our faces and averred that he never had sex with “that woman.” Then all of his henchmen went around the country spreading that lie. Does Kendall really expect us to believe any rebuttal that he promulgates?

* If Starr had been alive in biblical times, would he have worked to impeach King David?

* There is a classic moral code related to sexual liaisons, namely, “gentlemen do not tell.” President Clinton should be honored for his moral integrity.
