Cassatt’s ‘Breakfast’ Among Art Stamps

“Breakfast in Bed,” a painting by American Impressionist Mary Cassatt owned by the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, is among 20 images on a new set of U.S. postage stamps.

The new issue, “Four Centuries of American Art, includes celebrated historical paintings such as Grant Wood’s “American Gothic,” Winslow Homer’s “The Fog Warning” and Edward Hopper’s “Nighthawks” as well as more recent abstractions by Franz Kline and Mark Rothko. The stamps are the latest in the Postal Service’s “Classic Collection” series, featuring sheets of 20 designs with descriptive text.
