Danger at Edison Field Parking Lot

Share

* With the Angels in a fight to the finish for a pennant, home attendance will be increasing the rest of the month. There is, however, a clear danger that should be addressed.

Between the reserved parking spaces and the main parking sections, there is a long, wide road where tens of thousands of fans and high-powered vehicles of all types compete to cross at right angles to each other. There are no stop signs, warning signs, flashing lights, traffic lights, pedestrian lights or pedestrian paths in place.

It is only a matter of a short time before some child or adult fan is seriously injured or killed. It would be sad if such a courageous and gritty effort by the Angel players were overshadowed by an easily preventable tragedy. With the creative brilliance of the Disney organization, it should not be difficult to fashion some type of safe crossing overpass or people mover.

With the excitement ahead, it will be far better to be an Angel fan at Edison Field than an angel watching from heaven. Disney should react before, not after, the fact.
