From Times Wire Reports

An Indiana state senator admitted an affair with a 21-year-old Statehouse intern, a relationship that already had led a local political leader to ask for his resignation. Howard County Republican Party Chairman Ronald Metz said he had urged state Sen. Steve Johnson within the last two weeks to suspend his reelection campaign and give up his Senate seat. Metz said Johnson, a 50-year-old Republican, did not specifically admit the affair when he talked to him. But Johnson later issued a statement admitting a “brief” extramarital affair. Johnson said he had told his wife of the affair and that they have been in counseling for more than a year. Metz said Johnson has not responded to his call to resign.
