Celebrating Fall With Mehregan
Mehregan, an Iranian American celebration of autumn, will return Oct. 17-18 to Lakeside Park at Irvine Meadows.
The celebration of thanks honors the culture, scholarship, arts and cuisine of Iran and the Middle East. In Iran, the event is the second largest celebration of the year, said organizer Nikta Shokooh; spring is first.
Mehregan in Orange County is considered the largest celebration of Iranian culture in the United States; last year’s event drew 15,000 people of various ethnicities.
The nonprofit event, which has no political or religious affiliation, is $10 and goes from 10 a.m. to midnight.
Lakeside Park is at 8770 Irvine Center Drive.
