Two Top WNBA Signees Assigned
The WNBA, which registered a major victory over the rival ABL last spring by signing Nykesha Sales and Kristin Folkl, assigned those players to expansion teams Tuesday.
Sales was assigned to Orlando. Folkl to Minnesota.
The 6-foot Sales, from Connecticut, and the 6-2 Folkl, from Stanford, suffered season-ending injuries requiring surgery last season and were held out of the WNBA draft last April and the 1998 season.
Sales, last season’s Big East player of the year, averaged 20.9 points and 5.7 rebounds.
Folkl averaged 18.9 points and 9.2 rebounds.
