Noon: Exhibit

Since 1953, covers of TV Guide have served as a chronicle of the television landscape. To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the magazine, the Museum of Television & Radio presents a new exhibition, “A Television Diary: Forty-Five Years of TV Guide Covers.” Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson, Muhammad Ali, Mary Tyler Moore, David Cassidy, Rosie O’Donnell and Madonna are among celebrities on the more than 400 original covers displayed, which feature the artwork of Al Hirschfeld, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali and Charles Addams, among others.

* “A Television Diary: Forty-Five Years of TV Guide Covers,” Museum of Television & Radio, 465 N. Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills. Wednesday-Sunday, noon-5 p.m.; until 9 p.m. on Thursday. Ends Feb. 28. (310) 786-1000.

All day: art

Moving away from swimming pools, opera sets and darling dachshunds, David Hockney focuses on landscapes in “Looking at Landscape/Being in Landscape” an exhibition of new works that opened this week at L.A. Louver Gallery. The British-born, L.A.-based artist contrasts the rural countryside of his birth with the expansive landscape of the American West in colorful and lush paintings of Yorkshire, England, and the Grand Canyon.

8 pm: Comedy

One’s from England, the other from Flint, Mich. One’s stream-of-consciousness, the other acerbic. Both are known for their dynamic one-person shows and, oh yes, both like to wear women’s clothes. We’re talking about Eddie Izzard and Sandra Bernhard, two of the more unique comedic voices around today. Izzard and Bernhard are both in town, giving audiences a somewhat rare chance to see them live. Izzard’s one-man show, “Dress to Kill,” is at the Tiffany Theater in West Hollywood for a two-week run. Bernhard, meanwhile, is doing four nights at LunaPark in West Hollywood beginning tonight, working out material before she takes “I’m Still Here . . . Damn It!” to Broadway. Review of “Dress to Kill,” Page XX; interview with Bernhard, Page 6.

* “Dress to Kill,” starring Eddie Izzard, runs through Sept. 27 at the Tiffany Theater, 8532 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood. Shows are 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday. $40. 310) 289-2999.

* Sandra Bernhard is at LunaPark, 665 N. Robertson Blvd., West Hollywood. 8 p.m. today, Friday, Saturday and Sept. 26. $15. Call (310) 652-0611.
