The Mighty Ducks got one defenseman back in the fold Wednesday and hope to have a second skating again by this weekend.

Pavel Trnka signed a one-year contract, ending a three-day absence from training camp. Trnka, who had three goals and seven points in 48 games last season, is expected to join the team for today’s workouts. Trnka, 22, was the only unsigned player on the Ducks’ 54-man training camp roster.

Meanwhile, the Ducks hope to learn by this weekend about the condition of Fredrik Olausson, who has an enlarged spleen and hasn’t been cleared to practice. Olausson underwent another round of tests with specialists Wednesday. “We really don’t know what’s wrong,” General Manager Pierre Gauthier said. “The mood of the doctors is very good, but I don’t want to speculate.”
