As Promised, Bure Skips Camp and Gets Suspended

The Vancouver Canucks suspended Pavel Bure without pay Wednesday after the club’s leading scorer made good on his threat not to show at training camp at Whistler, Canada. Last month Bure cited “personal reasons” for wanting to be traded and said he would never play in a Vancouver uniform again.

Peter Stastny and Michel Goulet, two former Quebec Nordique teammates, will be inducted into hockey’s Hall of Fame in Toronto on Nov. 16, along with Roy Conacher in the veterans category and Notre Dame College founder Pere Athol Murray as a builder.

Festivities for the NHL’s 50th All-Star game will be held in Toronto on Feb. 5-6, 2000, the league announced. It will be the eighth time the All-Star game will be held in Toronto, but the first since 1968.
