UC Irvine Men Shut Out Redlands

UC Irvine’s Tyler Theslof scored a first-half goal and the Anteaters scored on an own goal in the second half to defeat Redlands, 2-0, in a nonconference men’s soccer game Wednesday at Irvine.

Theslof scored from 30 yards off an assist from Shaun Callahan in the 12th minute. Irvine freshman goalkeeper Kevin Mehrens earned the shutout in his first start. Irvine (4-1) outshot Redlands (1-1-1), 24-3.

In other nonconference games:

Pacific Christian 3, Concordia 1--Donald Laing scored two first-half goals for visiting Pacific Christian (2-4). Thoreau Prendergast gave visiting Pacific Christian a 3-0 lead with a goal in the 67th minute.

Josh Egan scored the only goal for Concordia (1-6).

Southern California College 6, U.S. International 3--Diego Goni and Fermin Gonzalez each scored two goals to lead SCC (4-4) to its fourth consecutive victory.
