John W. Warwick; Musician, Retired Deputy
John W. Warwick, a musician, retired Ventura County sheriff’s deputy and longtime Ventura resident, died after a long illness Saturday. He was 85.
Born Aug. 15, 1913, Warwick played piano and guitar in some of the area’s past hot spots, including the Green Mill Ballroom.
The World War II veteran was also a father of four boys, two of them adopted.
“He was a good father,” said Ventura resident Maurice Warwick, the oldest son. “He had a sturdy, strong hand. We all turned out good.”
But music was his father’s passion, Warwick said. He began playing at the age of 16, and he later played with his father.
“They were good,” Warwick said.
Warwick is survived by his wife, Angela, and sons Maurice, Robert and John. His other son, Bill, died recently.
The family has not yet decided on memorial arrangements.
