UC Irvine students specializing in the information technology field can feel better about their choice of higher education, PC Week announced this week. The magazine named the university one of the nation’s top 10 schools for information technology.
UC Irvine was one of two public universities listed, with the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. Other schools named include Harvard, Columbia and Stanford universities.
“UC Irvine’s information and computer science curriculum, faculty and resources are getting attention across the country,” said Michael Pazzani, department chair. “Industry members . . . are seeking to hire UCI graduates. They’re also working with [the department] to form partnerships and offer opportunities for students to learn as interns.”
The department’s freshman enrollment for fall 1998 is 196 students. The department has 32 faculty members.
