San Bernardino Officer Accidentally Shot by Colleague

A member of the San Bernardino Police SWAT team was accidentally shot in the thigh Wednesday by a fellow officer after they stormed a home to arrest a retired officer from the same department, authorities said.
After they forced their way into the home of Doug Domino, 44, one officer’s weapon “accidentally discharged,” striking the second officer, who later underwent surgery.
“It was an oops,” said San Bernardino Police Lt. Bill Smith. The names of the two officers involved in the shooting were not available.
Domino was taken into custody on felony charges stemming from a minor hit-and-run car accident last week in which, authorities say, he brandished and then fired a gun at the victim, who had followed him through city streets for about an hour after the accident. When the gun was fired, the victim gave up his pursuit, and Domino--whose own car became disabled in sand--took off on foot, Smith said.
Domino was later questioned about the incident and denied involvement, but police investigators secured a search warrant to return to his home Wednesday.
Domino, who spent seven years with the department before taking medical retirement in 1993, was unarmed when he was arrested, Smith said.
