From Times Wire Reports

As he attempts to settle the Paula Corbin Jones lawsuit, President Clinton’s former chief fund-raiser, Terence R. McAuliffe, has assured him he could put together the money necessary to resolve the long-standing suit, sources close to the White House say. While the two sides haggle over a mutually acceptable payment, people close to both camps appear confident a deal can be reached after more than four years of legal warfare. Some sources predicted a settlement could come by Monday. The only serious issue separating the two sides appears to be settling on how much Clinton will pay. Jones’ lawyers proposed $1 million earlier this month; Clinton’s attorney countered last week with $500,000.
