Times Reporters Win Awards for Coverage of U.N., S. America

Craig Turner, United Nations and Canada bureau chief for The Times, has won the Korn/Ferry International Journalism Award for Excellence in United Nations Reporting for his ongoing coverage of the U.N.

Also, Sebastian Rotella, Buenos Aires bureau chief for The Times, has been awarded the Inter American Press Assn.’s feature writing award for stories on the cultures of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru.

Sponsored by El Comercio of Quito, Ecuador, and McClatchy Newspapers, the award will be presented at the IAPA’s 54th General Assembly in Punta del Este, Uruguay, in November.

Established in 1989, the Korn/Ferry journalism award honors journalists whose reporting has fostered a deeper understanding of the United Nations. The award program is sponsored by the executive search firm of Korn/Ferry International and the Business Council for the United Nations.

Turner will share the Korn/Ferry award with James Traub, who profiled U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan for the New York Times Magazine.
