FAMILY

Dragons, the fire-breathing nightmares that have haunted our dreams for more than 2,000 years, have taken over MainPlace/Santa Ana in “Dragons of the Myths,” an interactive exhibit by Dinamation that closes Saturday. Tracing the global evolution of the dragon as a mythical and cultural icon, the show features several larger-than-life robotic, smoke-breathing dragons. The exhibits include a winged dragon perched atop a medieval castle, a cave dragon, a parading Chinese dragon, a gargoyle tower and four other enchanted tableaux. In an interactive scenario, guests can slay a dragon and take home a photograph as a souvenir of their triumph. There’s also a dragon’s treasure dig, a build-a-dragon exhibit, an illustration rubbing station and a dragon video kiosk. 10 a.m.-9 p.m. today and Friday. 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday. The mall is at 2800 N. Main St. Free. (714) 547-7000.
