For the second year in a row, El Camino Real High School has partnered with the city’s AIDS support group, People With AIDS and Others, to promote AIDS awareness. Sophomores and juniors are putting together panels for the national AIDS Memorial Quilt in Washington; the panels will feature the names of Orange County residents who have died of the disease. “I can stand up here and lecture and give tests, but until kids put a name or face with the disease, they really don’t feel the impact,” said teacher Lee McLaughlin. “We want to bring it closer to home and to their hearts.” McLaughlin said the panels will be completed by the end of this month.
