SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
A special meeting of the South Orange County Community College District trustees will be held today and Saturday. The meeting is designed as a retreat for trustees to develop strategies to improve performance and communication with their college constituents. The district, which includes Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College, was cited by a national review committee in January as being in a state of crisis, partially because of poor relations between faculty members and trustees. The committee is requiring radical reforms before it will reaffirm the colleges’ accreditation status. The retreat takes place today from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon in the Hacienda Conference Room of the Rancho Capistrano Conference Center, 29251 Camino Capistrano. Information: (949) 582-4920.
