Orange Coast Pounds Out 40 Runs, 35 Hits in 2 Victories

Orange Coast scored 40 runs and had 35 hits in winning two games Thursday in the College of the Sequoias baseball tournament in Visalia.

Ryan Clark had three hits, including his 11th home run, and Matt Wahlbrink and Nick Orlandos each had three hits as the Pirates beat Gavilan, 21-3.

Brandon Thompson had three doubles and Nick Anderson had two doubles and a single and drove in six as the Pirates beat Reedley, 19-0.

In other tournament games:

Saddleback 13, Canada 7--Chris Ridenour had four hits and Mike Pazzulla (7-1) pitched eight innings to get the victory for Saddleback. The Gauchos later beat Bakersfield, 13-5, as Ridenour had three hits and three RBIs.

In the Hardball Classic:

Santa Ana 6, Long Beach 5--D.J. Houlton (2-1) pitched 8 2/3 innings, giving up seven hits and two earned runs, and Tommy Duarte had a home run and a single and three runs batted in for Santa Ana (19-11).

Bobby Fry had a double, triple, and a home run as the Dons beat East Los Angeles, 13-6.
