Lockhart Pitches 2-Hitter for Marina
Brian Lockhart pitched a two-hitter and Marina scored six runs in the fourth inning of an 8-0 victory over host Los Alamitos, the seventh-ranked team in the county, in a Sunset League baseball game Thursday.
Joey Ammirato and Nick German each hit two-run doubles to highlight the six-run fourth for the Vikings (4-6, 2-3 in league). Lockhart (3-1), who struck out two, gave up two infield singles and walked four.
Los Alamitos is 6-6, 3-2.

No. 5 Esperanza 14, Fountain Valley 5--Patrick Rooney, who finished with four RBIs, had two hits, including a three-run double to highlight a five-run third for host Esperanza (8-3, 3-2).
No. 9 Edison 6, Huntington Beach 5--Host Edison (8-4, 3-2) scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a wild pitch.
With two out, Jason DeMarti broke from third on a wild pitch. When Huntington Beach’s catcher tried to throw out DeMarti, the ball hit DeMarti and bounced away, allowing Bryce Popoff, who was on second, to score the winning run. Huntington Beach is 5-5, 2-3.
In the Century League:
Canyon 7, Villa Park 3--Jon Holato hit his third home run and had three RBIs for Canyon (8-4, 4-1) and winning pitcher Matt Fry (4-1) gave up four hits. Villa Park is 5-6, 4-1.
Foothill 13, Orange 0 (5, mercy)--Mike Castillo (2-0) pitched a no-hitter, walking one, for host Foothill (6-3, 4-1). Matt Meadows hit a three-run home run for the Knights.
In the Garden Grove League:
Garden Grove 8, Santiago 3--Greg Benoit had three hits and Eric Davis struck out nine to win his fourth for host Garden Grove (6-5, 2-1).
In the Golden West League:
Tustin 8, Westminster 2--Junior left-hander Ivan Ramirez struck out 15 and Omar Barrera had three hits and three RBIs for visiting Tustin (6-3, 3-1).
In the Pacific Coast League:
Costa Mesa 6, Aliso Niguel 2--Ruben Mancilla (5-0) struck out 11 for visiting Costa Mesa (6-3-1, 3-1-1). In the sixth, Chris Sandro hit a two-run double and Carlos Franco hit a two-run single to highlight a five-run inning.
Laguna Hills 11, Estancia 0 (6 innings, mercy rule)--Ryan Johnson had a home run and three RBIs for visiting Laguna Hills (5-7, 2-3).
In the Sea View League:
Corona del Mar 4, El Toro 1--Senior Ty Harper hit two home runs and allowed four singles to earn the victory for Corona del Mar (7-3, 4-1). Harper’s second home run was his 100th career hit. Eric Wiethorn hit his sixth home run for the Sea Kings.
Woodbridge 7, Santa Margarita 0--Steve Terwiske hit his fourth home run, a grand slam in the seventh for Woodbridge (4-5, 2-3).
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 6, Mission Viejo 4--Center fielder Paul Hindman’s home run broke a 2-2 tie and senior Rich Sorenson, who had three hits, pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts for host Dana Hills (6-4, 2-3).
San Clemente 5, Capistrano Valley 4 (8)--With the bases loaded in the eighth, senior John Grant singled to drive in the winning run for San Clemente (7-5, 3-2).
