Peter Pan Statue Returns to Park After River Rescue

Peter Pan sleeps with the fishes no more.

Rescued from the East River and newly restored, the 1928 bronze statue of the fictional boy who refused to grow up was returned to its pedestal Tuesday at Carl Schurz Park in Manhattan.

Vandals ripped the 300-pound statue from its granite base in August, carted it up 22 concrete stairs and dumped it into the river. The culprits were never caught.

This time, Pan was bolted down tightly to make sure vandals don’t make it walk the plank again.
