Denise DeBartolo York will stay on as chairwoman of the Edward J. DeBartolo Corp. and the San Francisco 49ers.

Suspended 49er owner Eddie DeBartolo, York’s brother, attended Tuesday’s private shareholders meeting despite being sued by the corporation and the 49ers last week. York also was at the meeting.

DeBartolo’s daughter, Tiffanie DeBartolo, and his friend and business associate, Ed Muransky, were added to the DeBartolo Corp. board, joining York and her husband, John York, according to Cindy Miller, spokeswoman for the DeBartolo Corp.

DeBartolo voluntarily relinquished his seat on the board, his title as corporation president and his chairmanship of the 49ers in December 1997 after being linked to a federal gambling fraud case in Louisiana. However, he retained his right to name two people to the board and exercised that privilege Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty in October to one felony charge of failing to report an alleged extortion attempt by former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards in connection with DeBartolo’s bid for a riverboat gambling license and was fined $2 million.
