Forum Set on Forest Parking Fee

Share

Residents of Glendale and surrounding areas will hold a public forum Wednesday calling for opposition to the fees being charged to park in the mountains.

Under 1997 legislation passed by Congress, the U.S. Forest Service was authorized to create an Adventure Pass to enter the Angeles, San Bernardino, Los Padres and Cleveland National forests.

The Forest Service charges $5 a day or $30 a year to park within the boundaries of the mountain areas. Under the guidelines of the program, visitors must purchase the passes at local designated vendors or at ranger stations. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted last week to oppose the fee program.
