A Van Nuys street gang member was sentenced Thursday to 176 days in jail after he interfered with the arrest of his brother--also a gang member--and violated parole imposed last month.
In addition to jail time, Van Nuys Municipal Court Commissioner Mitchell Block ordered Eden Alberto Ambriz, 18, to stay away from gang activity. Conditions of a two-year probation include that he not associate with gang members and activities on Delano Street, between Kester and Cedros avenues, said Deputy City Atty. Debra Siedorf, who prosecuted the case.
His brother, Alejandro Ambriz, 19, also is in custody pending a trial on charges including attempted murder and battery on police officers, smoking marijuana and resisting arrest, Siedorf said.
