BUENA PARK
The City Council on Tuesday approved up to $106,000 for “loop detectors,” devices that help improve traffic flow at intersections. Traffic engineers expect to go to bid next week on devices for nine intersections. The detectors show when there are cars at an intersection and allow the signal lights to adjust accordingly. Once the bids are awarded, probably in May, crews will install five detectors on Valley View Street, two on Knott Avenue, one on Western Avenue and one on Crescent Avenue.
