Posing as a Greek God

So you’re a male model with grand dreams. Only problem is, you don’t live in Hollywood or the Big Apple and worry about being discovered so far from these hot spots.

Don’t fret. Let local boy Eric Watson be your inspiration. Watson has signed lucrative contracts with Yves St. Laurent and Perry Ellis, with billboards and international print ads on the horizon.

“They found the one guy in the world they wanted, and he’s living in San Clemente,” says Roger Canamar, director of Notorious Model Management, a men-only boutique agency in Santa Ana that has been developing models’ careers for three years.

Watson, who is 6 foot 2, is also featured in Gianni Versace men’s collection for the fall. The print campaign was “shot by Bruce Weber in Miami, and [model] Kate Moss is also in it,” name-drops Canamar. “And Eric’s up for the international Giorgio Armani campaign. He has the look they want--a Greek god type.”

Watson has been with the agency less than a year.

“For someone who’s brand new and with no modeling experience, he’s now being called one of the new faces for the new millennium,” Canamar says.

Canamar threw a birthday party for Watson’s 24th at Woody’s restaurant in Laguna Beach recently and invited some of his “new faces.” Notorious has 30 male models on its roster, and Canamar says he fields calls from top photographers on both coasts.

“They always ask where we’re based, and when I tell them, they say, ‘Santa Ana?’ Everyone loves it,” Canamar says. “If you have the right people, you can be anywhere.”
