* Jones Apparel Group Inc. will slash about 1,900 jobs in an effort to reduce costs as it integrates footwear maker Nine West into its business. The apparel company plans to close Nine West plants in Kentucky, Indiana and the Dominican Republic, as well as an administrative office in St. Louis.

* Limited Inc. expects its earnings to far exceed analyst forecasts of 19 cents in the fiscal second quarter as new designs helped boost sales at its Express, Lerner New York and Lane Bryant stores. The retailer expects earnings of 26 cents, double a year ago.
