Richard Grasso, chairman and chief executive of the New York Stock Exchange, plans to discuss the current state of equity markets, particularly their increasing globalization, at commencement ceremonies Saturday at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business in Malibu.

Grasso also plans to address the current competitive environment in the stock market and offer an overview of scenarios on where the U.S. market is headed.

An NYSE spokesman said Grasso has no plans to discuss an announcement made July 23 that the exchange plans to go public with an initial stock sale sometime this fall.

The speech, which is open to the public, is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at the university’s Firestone Fieldhouse. Admission is free.
