Hotjobs.com, an online job recruiter, said Monday that it plans to offer 3 million shares in its initial public offering--down from a planned 4.75 million. It also lowered the expected price range to $9 to $11 a share from $12 to $14. The underwriters are DB Alex. Brown, BancBoston Robertston Stephens and SG Cowen. . . . Gateway Inc., the No. 2 direct seller of personal computers, unveiled a 2-for-1 stock split Monday. The San Diego-based company plans to split its stock Sept. 7 to shareholders of record Aug. 20. . . . Archipelago, one of several new electronic stock-trading networks, said Monday it formally sought approval from federal regulators to become a national securities exchange. That will allow it to branch out from trading Nasdaq-listed stocks to trading New York Stock Exchange issues as well.
