Police said Monday that they are searching for any women who may have been attacked at a popular Pier Avenue bar whose general manager has been arrested on suspicion of raping two female customers.

Nicholas Temkey, a 31-year-old Lawndale resident employed at the Beach Club, is being held on $100,000 bail for two counts of rape by force, violence or fear of immediate bodily injury, said Hermosa Beach Police Sgt. Paul A. Wolcott.

Temkey pleaded not guilty to the charges in an arraignment Monday. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 30.

The two victims, who do not know each other, came forward independently in the last week, Wolcott said. Each said that Temkey invited her to his office for a drink and then attacked her. Temkey, who is 6 feet 4 and 235 pounds, with a muscular build, overpowered them, each told authorities.

One of the women is in her 20s and is from San Diego County. The other is in her 30s and from Los Angeles County.

The police asked anyone with information to call Det. Raul Saldana at (310) 318-0360 or (310) 318-0332.
