Scout Ruling
As the mother of two sons, one a Scout, I say “Bravo!” to the New Jersey Supreme Court for ruling in favor of gays participating in Scouting (Aug. 5). Our own California Supreme Court sorely needs to work on earning its tolerance badge.

It baffles me when people make completely unparallel comparisons between two different situations (letter, Aug. 10). Since when does admitting gay Boy Scouts automatically mean that we will start allowing male Girl Scout leaders? Someone needs to explain that one to me. And why do so many Christians think that admitting that homosexuality is acceptable is tantamount to condoning pedophilia or bestiality? These are completely different things.
Can’t we have intelligent conversations about important issues anymore without jumping to disrespectful and ridiculous conclusions?
