From Times Wire Reports

Television talk show host Jerry Springer crushed speculation that he might run for the Senate from Ohio, saying obligations to his show made the idea, as attractive as it was, impractical. “I have urged all efforts on behalf of my becoming a candidate to cease,” said the 55-year-old former Cincinnati mayor whose syndicated television program, “The Jerry Springer Show,” has been criticized for its body slamming, guest-on-guest violence and frank sex talk. Springer had been touted by some Ohio Democrats in recent weeks as a possible candidate to take on Republican Sen. Mike DeWine. The prospect was applauded by some in Ohio but was ridiculed by others.
