Planning Begins for Kinetic Vehicle Race

Organizers of Ventura’s second annual Kinetic Sculpture Race are accepting entry applications and hosting several workshops this week on how to build people-powered vehicles for the event.

Workshops will begin Friday in preparation for the race Oct. 9 and 10. A kinetic sculpture is a vehicle made mostly with recycled bicycle, motorcycle and lawn mower parts and can carry more than one person without the use of a motor.

The race, which goes through downtown Ventura, will be judged according to “humorous rules.” The winner is not necessarily the vehicle that crosses the finish line first. For more information call (805) 652-0000 or visit www.ventura-kinetic-race.com.
