View Tech in Camarillo has been awarded a contract, with a potential value of $24 million, to provide videoconferencing products and services to all state government agencies and departments.

The agreement starts with a three-year contract and allows for two one-year extensions. View Tech’s services will include business teleconferencing, distance learning, video over the Internet, telemedicine and products for the judicial and corrections systems.

“This contract holds tremendous potential for View Tech and puts us exactly where we want to be in our home state of California,” said View Tech Chief Executive William J. Shea. “As one of the two chosen vendor-providers for visual communications systems and services throughout the state, the opportunities for us are substantial.”

Last year, the state had contract purchases for videoconferencing equipment and services totaling $9.5 million.

The contract was the result of a state mandate to reduce costs associated with travel and medical care delivery.

View Tech provides products and services to departments and agencies through a variety of contracts in Massachusetts, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Tennessee, Georgia and Nevada.
