The Ventura Heart Institute has been made a member organization of the Coalition for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, operating under the California Department of Health Services.

The institute was established in 1985 under the direction of Dr. Irving Kent Loh to serve as a community resource for programs dealing with the early detection and prevention of heart disease. It has also been active in research of new therapies for elevated cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart failure and irregular heart rhythms.

Loh is a frequent lecturer to physician groups nationwide on the management of high-risk and high-cost diseases, as well as medical information technology to improve patient care.
