The last time pitcher Mike Judd faced the Florida Marlins, he had a pretty odd outing. Judd pitched two innings of relief and struck out a career-high five batters but gave up two runs in an 8-6 loss to Florida on Aug. 11, 1998.

Judd’s task will be a little different tonight as he makes his second career major league start in the middle game of a three-game series against the Marlins.

After giving up four runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings in winning his starting debut against Montreal last Thursday, Judd has earned a longer look from Johnson.

“He was told that he’d only be here for one start, so he’s in bonus area now,” Johnson said.

Judd had made a total of eight relief appearances with the Dodgers in 1997 and 1998. He begun this year playing for triple-A Albuquerque and compiled an 8-7 record with a 6.67 earned-run average in 21 starts.

Pitcher Chan Ho Park took over the Dodger lead for most home runs given up when Florida’s Kevin Millar hit one in the third inning Monday night.

It was the 26th homer hit off of Park this season, one more than the total given up by Ismael Valdes this season.
