Officials to Discuss State’s Y2K Efforts

Share

State officials overseeing California’s efforts to avoid problems stemming from possible year 2000 computer glitches will be on hand Thursday in Pasadena to discuss their work. The participants will discuss plans to position state employees in cities across the world to monitor possible regional computer snafus as different time zones hit midnight Jan. 1. Computer experts fear systems could malfunction if their internal clocks read the year 2000 as 1900. Officials, including the state’s top computer systems manager and Gov. Gray Davis’ chief advisor on the calendar rollover issue, will also talk about efforts to test the viability of connections between state and local computer systems. The presentation, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the Pasadena Convention Center, is part of the Southern California Executive Leadership Forum.
