For one night, Coors Field played like a normal ballpark.

After a lengthy pregame storm, five Colorado Rockies’ pitchers held off the Atlanta Braves despite giving up 10 hits in a 3-2 victory Tuesday night at Denver.

The five runs marked the fewest at Coors Field since Darryl Kile two-hit the New York Mets in a 3-1 victory Sept. 10.

“I’ve had plenty of outings where I went out on a beautiful day, sunshine and not a cloud in the sky, and that’s when a pitcher is going to die,” Rockies’ starter Jamey Wright said. “Tonight was a great night to pitch. It had just rained, it was more humid and the ball was sinking a lot more.”

Wright, winless in five starts since Sept. 6, gave up one run and seven hits in five innings.

David Lee (2-0) gave up one run and three hits in 1 1/3 innings in relief of Wright, and Dave Veres got five outs for his 23rd save in 28 chances.

Edgard Clemente went three for three with two doubles and Neifi Perez homered for the Rockies.

Arizona 4, Chicago 0--In what could be his last start of the season, Brian Anderson threw a three-hitter for the Diamondbacks at Phoenix.

The left-hander will lose his spot in the rotation Friday when Todd Stottlemyre comes off the disabled list. Anderson, a starter last year but relegated to the bullpen with Arizona’s off-season acquisitions of Randy Johnson, Stottlemyre and Armando Reynoso, is 5-1 since returning to the rotation in May.

Greg Colbrunn’s bases-loaded triple in the first inning gave Anderson all the offense he needed.

Montreal 2, San Francisco 1--Brad Fullmer hit a leadoff home run in the 12th inning after the Expos rallied to tie it in the ninth at San Francisco.

Dan Smith (4-6) pitched three hitless innings for the victory and Ugueth Urbina got three outs for his 28th save. Pitchers on both teams combined for 29 strikeouts, including a rare four-strikeout effort in the seventh by Montreal reliever Steve Kline.

Cincinnati 7, Pittsburgh 4--Chris Stynes hit a three-run homer in the 12th inning at Cincinnati as the Reds remained in first place in the NL Central.

Stynes, pinch-hitting for Danny Graves (8-6), connected off Mike Williams (2-3) for his second homer of the season, sending the ball off the facing of the second deck in left field.

Houston 8, Milwaukee 6--Ken Caminiti hit a go-ahead, two-run single in his second game since coming off the disabled list for the Astros at Houston.

Craig Biggio homered to back Scott Elarton (7-3), who gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings, striking out seven and walking one.
