At tonight’s meeting, the City Council will unveil its guidelines for neighborhood tree planting. The Master Street Tree Plan took two years to create and was prepared in consultation with residents and West Coast Arborists Inc. It includes information on growth characteristics of trees, soil types and recommended species, as well as trees considered undesirable for planting near public areas. According to Director of Public Works Harry Thomas, the plan is “a valuable tool that can be used by professional landscape personnel as well as the general public.” The plan will be available at libraries and city offices.
