Free Make-Over Book for Early Conference Registrants

Share

Selected columns from Business Make-Over, a feature in The Times’ small-business pages on Wednesdays, have been published in a book that will be available free to people who register early for the second Times Small Business Strategies Conference Sept. 24-25.

Edited by make-over writer Cyndia Zwahlen, the book profiles nearly 30 businesses and contains advice from more than two dozen consultants. Issues tackled include the problems of start-ups, managing growth, increasing sales, reinvigorating a mature company, passing a company on to new owners and “professionalizing” a business.

In addition, Zwahlen, profiled business owners and consultants quoted in the book will be at the conference to talk about small business and answer questions. Register by Sept. 12 for a free copy of the book. Copies will also be on sale at the conference and will be raffled as prizes at the Times Pavilion in the exhibit hall.

Six sessions on “Top Industry Methods” will focus on tips for business owners in six areas: biomedical/bioscience, business consulting, manufacturing, technology, international trade and retailing.

Keynote speakers will include Starbucks Chairman and Chief Executive Howard Schultz, basketball-great-turned-entrepreneur Earvin “Magic” Johnson, biotechnology pioneer Alfred Mann and business activists Linda Griego and Patty DeDominic.
