The Orange County Hispanic Education Endowment Fund recently gave the Apple of Gold for Educational Leadership Award to a Cypress College faculty member. Therese Mosqueda-Ponce, co-coordinator of the Puente Program, was commended for her commitment to creating educational opportunities for Orange County’s Latino youths. The Puente Program is a university preparation project for community college students.

Mosqueda-Ponce has been a counselor for the language arts and social science division for 20 years. She also serves on the Academic Senate for Cypress College and is vice president of the district’s Latino Faculty Assn.
